  • On October 5th, 2017, the students of civil engineering department of College of Engineering Roorkee got an opportunity to visit "The Bhimgoda Barrage", at Har ki Pauri near Haridwar in Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. The primary purpose for the barrage is irrigation but it also serves to provide water for hydroelectric power production and control floods. The students were guided about the proper functioning of energy dissipaters, process of silt removal, important of channel maintenance, and how everything works together in hazardous conditions like floods. The students were also briefed about the damage that silt collection can cause.
  • Guest lecture of Maj Gen Sanjay Agarwal, was organized by Civil department on 9th October, 2017. The topic was: Planning a Major Project.

  • Presentation-Seminar on "Glimpse of Civil Engineering" for students of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering Roorkee, was conducted on 23rd August, 2017 by team APCE, for students of first year and second year.


  • Students of civil engineering department spread their wings and had took part in the biggest civil engineering fest of India (MEGALITH 2K17) at IIT Kharagpur from 24 to 26 of March 2017, and had won three events over there, their efforts are really appreciated by the team of megalith. They had also got some consolations on different events.


  • Civil department, College of Engineering Roorkee, in collaboration with Indian Society of Construction Material and Structures (ISCMS) organized a quiz competition on 16th February, 2017. 105 students of Civil engineering from third year and final year participated in this competition.
  • Civil department, College of Engineering Roorkee, in collaboration with Indian Society of Construction Material and Structures (ISCMS), Roca bathrooms products and Richa Industries limited organized a one day workshop on Innovative Construction Machinery, Material and Methods (ICMMM-2017) on 18th February, 2017



  • Mr Rishi Shukla, Manager C&I NTPC, Uttarkashi had delivered a expert Lecture on Power Generation in India and career opportunities for Engineering Graduates, on September 3, 2016. He gave insight on roles of Civil , Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics engineers in establishing and running of power plants.
  • A report on Earthquake Vulnerability in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh was published by Times of India, Friday Sep 02, 2016.The report published in TOI are based on the research paper (Mridula, 'Identification of seismically susceptible areas in western Himalalya using pattern recognition', Journal of Earth System Science, Vol. 125, issue. 4, pp.855-871, June 2016) published by the COER faculty during her PhD work.
