BAMS full form is Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. BAMS is an undergraduate degree programme that is designed to make students familiar with the concepts of Ayurveda and use it for the treatment of patients. BAMS incorporates Ayurveda with the concepts of modern medicines and students are taught a combination of both as part of the course curriculum.
Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine and traces its roots to Vedic times. It is based on the curative properties of herbs and its medicines are known for the natural elements that they contain. Considered as an alternative method of treatment, the Ayurveda medicine system not only cures and prevents an ailment but also reduces the frequency with which diseases enter a human body. It utilises the self-healing system of the body.
Currently, this alternative method of healing is being accepted by people worldwide. Even the World Health Organisation has provided a worldwide forum for promoting traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda. Therefore, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) as a course has opened up many promising opportunities for students.

Ayurveda is the field of medicine which is growing in prominence from past few years. Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy is a 2-year diploma level program in Ayurveda. The eligibility criteria for the program is passing 10+2 with PCB(Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with a minimum aggregate of 40% and above from a recognized board. The course is covered through 4 semesters, the examination of which is conducted in a span of six months each.
Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy course enables candidates to know about the chemical properties of ayurvedic medicines, the proportion, composition and the amount in which it should be taken by patients. They are instilled with the fundamental principles of Ayurveda and its uses in treating different ailments. It builds a strong base for those who wish to pursue a higher qualification in the field such as Bachelors and Masters. As this course can be pursued by candidates after class 12th, the program acts as a foundation for growing their knowledge about the subject.
Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy curriculum is divided into theory and practice. The course primarily deals in drugs and its medications used in Ayurveda as a field of medicine. The topics focus on manufacturing and consumer sector of drugs including subjects such as ayurvedic formulations, Ayurveda drug manufacturing, quality control, drug store management, drug dispensing, modern and traditional manufacturing techniques as well as Ayurveda raw materials. Apart from this, they are also rendered additional knowledge through seminars, discussions, case studies, and presentations.

Panchakarma is a purification process of the mind-body system. Using various bodywork techniques, client-customized oils and special diets, Panchakarma therapies are customized for individuals based on their unique constitution and health conditions. The first step of these therapies is to eliminate the accumulated toxins, wastes and blocked channels creating the imbalance. After this detoxification, rejuvenation methodologies are implemented to restore and strengthen the system for optimal functionality.This program enables Ayurvedic students of all levels the opportunity to learn the traditional Panchakarma philosophy and methodologies. Panchakarma’s healing results are often deeper and longer-lasting, thus leading to increased client satisfaction and eventually lowering healthcare costs. Ayurvedic students and health professionals from all backgrounds have a unique opportunity in this day and age to assist family, friends and clients in targeting the root cause of their illness, leading to more balanced, fulfilling and wholesome lives.
