CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2007 and has grown over the years into one of the finest Department of training in the field of Civil Engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering in COER facilitates students with intellectually stimulating environment. The Department offers a four-year course leading to the Bachelor Degree (B.Tech) and three-year courses leading to Diplomain Civil Engineering.
The laboratories are equipped with excellent and advanced equipments and provide all required facilities for advanced research in specific fields of Civil Engineering, like Earthquake Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering etc. The laboratories provide enriched practical understanding along with theory that gives opportunity to understand the depth of the subjects and real-time exposure. The curriculum includes practical training, project work, expert lectures and more.
The Department is known for its reputed faculty having expertise in diverse fields. It has built up a wide research potential. The Department is staffed with highly qualified and enthusiastic faculty members with diversified fields of specializations, coming from reputed institutions like IITs, NITs etc. The faculty members of the Department continue to strive hard by exploring new frontiers of knowledge, imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students and conducting high quality of research. The Department has infrastructural facilities for carrying out various tests on all building materials, soil and water samples. The Department also provides consultancy services in the industry, which includes topographical survey including contouring, analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, water sample analysis and building materials testing for many private, state and central government organizations.
The students of the department get placed in premier Indian and multinational core civil engineering companies and go on to attain prestigious positions. Many of our students are also pursuing Masters/Doctorate from NITs/IITs and abroad universities. The Department is producing several eminent engineers who are making notable contributions in the planning and execution of Civil Engineering projects in India as well as abroad.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT
To prepare graduates with necessary technical, practical knowledge and professional skills needed to address the real time challenges and equip them with state-of-the-art tools of research and development in various fields of Civil Engineering including low cost housing, high rise structures and infrastructure development.
MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
- To produce competent Civil Engineers with high technical skills and ethical values.
- To provide the students with in-depth understanding of fundamentals and practical training related to professional skills and their applications through effective Teaching-Learning Process and state of the art laboratories.
- To serve the construction industry by providing consultancy services and promoting Industry-Department Interactions through dissemination of knowledge and technical services.
- To encourage students to pursue online certification courses for value addition.
- To encourage students to acquire knowledge through internship in India and abroad in emerging areas.
Program Outcomes (POs)
PO-1 Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO-2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO-3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO-4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO-5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO1 To train the students by providing an education, not just engineering training, by developing life-long skills, so that they can work and contribute to the infrastructure development projects being undertaken by Govt. and private or any other sector companies.
PEO2 To train students in such as a way that they can pursue higher studies so that they can contribute to the teaching profession/ research and development of civil engineering and other allied fields and should function effectively in the multicultural and multidisciplinary groups for the sustainable development and growth of civil engineering projects and profession.
PEO3 Maintaining a culture that promotes excellence and that allows students, staff, and faculty to excel in their endeavors and enrich the experience of students by cooperating with and assisting them in the realization of their educational goals especially as these involve their life-long learning and career development.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
PSO-1 The Graduates of this Programme with proficiency in mathematics and physical sciences will excel in the core areas of civil engineering such as structural, environmental, geotechnical, transportation and water resources engineering.
PSO-2 The graduates will prepare detailed drawings, cost estimates, reports, walk through views, interact with clients, manage workers, work in a team and executes construction works.
PSO-3 The graduates will utilize principles, methods, software’s and codes of practices to excel in the areas of planning, analysis and designs related to Civil Engineering systems.
