Guest Lecture “World of Renewable Energy: Opportunities and Challenges” (December 17th 2018)

Speaker: Dr. R.P.Saini, ,Professor, AHEC, IIT Roorkee

Dr. R. P. Saini discussed the following ideas on his lecture:
Smart grid technology is the key for an efficient use of distributed energy resources. Noting the climate change becomes an important issue the whole world is currently facing, the ever increasing price of petroleum products and the reduction in cost of renewable energy power systems, opportunities for renewable energy systems to address electricity generation seems to be increasing.

Speaker: Dr. Saurabh Chanana, ,Professor, NIT Kurukshetra

Dr. Saurabh Chanana discussed about  increasing complexity of the existing power grid due to rapid population growth, development in technology, infrastructure and computational tools contributing to the need of deployment of smart grid for secure and efficient use of electrical energy.However, the intermittent and fluctuating nature of these sources makes the integration a difficult task that needs to be effectively addressed.

Guest Lecture on“How to be Successful in Interviews”

Dr. A. S. Choudhary, Professor, NIT Kurukshetra, discussed skills to be successful in interviews. in his lecture he mention the importance of soft kill , body language of a person and its impact on its audieance or at other person. He also gave tips about presenting good personality and communication skills in interviews.he also explained the psychological effect of correct posture, grooming and tactical reply during the interviewand in general communicatiomn.

In last Dr Choudhary also conducted a small drill for students and explained few practices & drills  for

improving confidence, public oration and its scientific studies .

Guest Lecture on Robotics & Automation” ( February 15th, 2018)

Dr. Felix Orlando Maria Joseph, Assistant Professor, IIT Roorkee discussed about Robotics with design and application of robots and the use of computer for their manipulation and processing. He also elaborated about basic idea of kinematics forward kinematics , DH parameters SCARA manipulator, inverse kinematics.Then he discussed about jacobians matrix & its application in control of manipulatoAt the end he explained about its work on designing of three finger hand exoskeleton, its development & controlling

Guest Lecture on “Physical Layer Security”

Guest Speaker: Dr. Ravikant Saini, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jammu

A Guest lecture was organized for students and faculty members by Dr. Ravikant Saini, on 3rd October, 2019. Dr. Saini  discussed briefly what is physical layer security, what is secure rate, and then techniques to improve secure rate.

Workshop on “Energy Audit and Conservation”

(November 21st, 2018)

       Summary:

This workshop was organized at COER in collaboration with UPES Dehradun & UREDA Dehradun.

SESSION 1 (Forenoon):-In forenoon session, lecture on Energy Audit was delivered and tips of energy conservation opportunities were given.

SESSION 2 (Afternoon):-In afternoon session, Quiz and activities were organized and winners along with faculty coordination were invited for getting award on Energy Conservation day celebration. Students were received Trophy certificates and one LED (Each Student).

Workshop on “Virtual Laboratory”

(February 19th, 2019)

Speaker: Dr. R. S. Anand, Professor, IIT Roorkee

Lab: SESSION 1 (Forenoon):

  • Anand discussed about the significance of Virtual Laboratory and shared the benefits of Virtual lab.
  • lab enables the learner to link between the theoretical aspect and the practical one, without papers and
  • It is electronically programmed in computer in order to simulate the real experiments inside the real

Lab: SESSION 2(Afternoon):

Session 2 at HPC Lab was for two hours with practical implementation of lab. Mr. Abhilash (Research Scholar in IIT Roorkee) and Mr. Jasbeer Singh (Research Scholar in IIT Roorkee) continued the session with practical implementation of virtual laboratory in the field of engineering and sciences. They taught students to implement triggered based and simulation based lab of virtual laboratory for Network Circuits

Workshop on “MATLAB & ITS APPLICATIONS”

       ( March 28th -30th, 2019)
Speaker: Mr. Chandan Singh & Mr. Ashutosh Shukla

Objective of workshop

  • Computations, and programming in an easy-to-use environment called MATLAB
  • It’s use for Algorithm development, Scientific and engineering graphics, Modeling, simulation, and prototyping,
  • Application development, including Graphical User Interface building, Math and computation, Data analysis, exploration, and visualization.
  • To learn to solve technical computing problems, especially those with matrix and vector formulations Using toolboxes in MATLAB

Faculty Development Program on Optimization and Simulation Modeling for Power System Engineering

(July 12th to 16th July, 2019)

      Speaker: Dr. Aadesh Kumar Arya

The General  Algebraic  Modeling   System (GAMS)   which   is   a   high-   level modeling system for mathematical optimization. GAMS  is designed for modeling and solving linear, nonlinear, and mixed-integer optimization problems. FDP was aimed to encourage faculty members to develop new optimization techniques to overcome such optimization difficulties.
